Cavalariça

It is an Alentejo restaurant with influences from around the world, which makes a point of using the area’s raw materials (eggs from the countryside, fish caught off Sesimbra and Setúbal, oysters from the Sado and so on). Start with the incredible homemade sourdough bread, chef Bruno’s eye, and order the grilled brioche with chicken liver parfait and orange chutney. Then either ask for more recommendations or choose a seafood dish.

Ilha do Arroz

It is located on the beach and is owned by the Rice Museum. The outdoor space is very pleasant, especially the more modest area, almost hidden from the eyes of those on the beach. The offer on hot days bets on refreshing cocktails, which can be perfectly paired with snacks such as rice balls and fried cuttlefish. For lunch and dinner, fresh fish and seafood and a great monkfish rice are served in the interior room.

Comporta Café

Comporta Café

The sunset parties are a classic of this space, always very crowded and with DJs to help in the animation and the location, with relaxing areas on the beach, sunbeds, ottomans and day-beds. In the winter they only serve lunches and snacks, but in the hot months the service is available from morning to night. On the terrace you can count on a good menu of appetizers and snacks, from clams “Bulhão Pato” and mussels Comporta style to spicy or garlicky shrimp. To accompany, nothing better than a refreshing sangria. In the late afternoon, cocktails gain an advantage. Then there is always good fish to grill and mythical rice, such as razor clams, with clams and shrimp, and the tempting Carabiners with garlic rice.

Sal

It was once considered the best beach bar in the world by readers of Condé Nast Traveler. It is located in Praia do Pêgo and owes the title not to the atmosphere that emanates in the late afternoon, but also to the quality of what it serves, between squid rings and aioli, nero rice, prawns with alhinho, fresh fish soup, Bulhão Pato clams and, of course, fresh fish, presented in the window every day.
Prices are among the highest in the region

O Folha

O Folha

The fish and seafood of the day are displayed in the window, but talking to the owner and noticing as dishes and appetizers are coming out of the kitchen is always the best option, before ordering. Guaranteed, count on the octopus and roe salad, barnacles, clams, knives and other seafood. Definitely don’t miss the fried cuttlefish of coriander. For more robust meals, count on the grilled fish, including squid kebab with shrimp, razor clam rice and fried cuttlefish with chips and salad. Including the coffee side, it offers two closed terraces.

O Dinis – Restaurante Bar dos Pescadores

This restaurant seems to be immune to fashion. Located on Carvalhal beach (from the left side of those looking at the sea) since the time when the region still lacked the notoriety it has today and little has changed since then. They continue to serve freshly grilled fish with the excellence of always. During the high season, it is not worth visiting without a reservation for a table, especially if you prefer to stay on the terrace or, even if indoors, with a view of the sea. Also, make sure to count on good appetizers with summer flavor, such as clams and octopus salad.

Dona Bia

This roadside restaurant with typical cuisine is one of those classics from the Comporta where everyone stops – or wants to stop, because there is not always a table available – to eat the specialties made with rice from the region. Whether the sausages are fried with cockle rice, be it razor clams, tomatoes and cilantro, or simply cilantro rice. Be sure to also try the carapauzinhos, fillets of rooster fish, pataniscas and other fried snacks. Everything is excellent.

A Escola

If you are looking for a unique restaurant, go straight to the N253 road, which connects the city to Comporta and stop in Cachopos for a meal at A Escola. As the name suggests, it is the site of an old elementary school and has since been converted into an excellent restaurant and its reputation says it all. It is considered a cornerstone in the region with regard to local cuisine. A real recommendation that we make.
